At Home Denver Newborn Portraits
These at home Denver newborn portraits are some of my favorites yet. I love the chaos older siblings bring to a session, as well as the unpredictability. They are settling into their new roles and love cuddling her. I know when we did Joni’s baby portraits (my third child), it was hard to pry her out of my kids’ arms.
These were taken right after quarantine ended. Little Jane was about two weeks old, so the timing was perfect. I’ve been fortunate enough to photograph Allie and Tim’s Denver engagement, Osborn farm wedding, one year portraits at Wash Park with Charlie, Gentry’s lifestyle newborn session and now Jane’s newborn plus a few family sessions in between. What an honor it is!
I had so much fun watching the older two kids horse around, giggle and then get calm and quiet when holding Jane. They just sat there, staring at her, holding her little hand and giving her kisses.
The more kids you have, the more relaxed you get with your babies. For instance, Allie and Tim sat back and watched their three children all snuggled up in their bed. They just were enjoying the sweet moment.
I know some people may look at these photos and wonder, how did they get everyone ready with a newborn? Well, they make it look easy, that’s for sure. I think if baby can be fed and napped, then everything else can fall into place. Snacks always help with the all kids. Also, not being overly concerned about if they are smiling or acting nicely is a must. Let me be the one worried if they are unhappy or not giving me any smiles. The less pressure we put on kids, the better things go – I promise!
