The Annual Motherhood Event
Let’s take some photos that not only look beautiful but will remind you of how it feels to be a mom.

First off, I am Kara – photographer of 23 years, married for 16, mother of 3 children (12, 9 and 6). The whole reason I was attracted to photography was to tell a story. And boy, am I doing just that with each and every family I photograph!

Never In The Photos
Maybe you’re awesome at getting family photos taken every year. Seriously, kudos to you. I am really good about it, and I cherish them. But sometimes I wish I had some images of my kids with just me – more than us looking at the camera together.
Oftentimes, moms are the ones taking the photos. And the ones your spouse takes (on his phone) don’t really hit you in the heart. They aren’t the little everyday moments that you’ll remember forever: the way your baby’s legs wrapped around your waist, the way you and your son would laugh together, the way your daughter grabs your finger to walk with you. Plus, I don’t know about you, but I usually look horrible in the photos he takes – ha!

Lasting Memories Of You With Your Children
My own children are 12, 9 and 6 and (so far) they still like being with me. I am relishing this time with them. They’re funny, cute, sarcastic and loving. But I also ache when I think back to 4, 6, 8 years ago, when my son couldn’t fit into my shoes, and my daughter wasn’t wearing my earrings. It was a time when I could scoop them up, and a trip to the library was a 2-hour adventure.
Motherhood Sessions are to help you remember this time right now. To put your relationship as mom-kid in the spotlight. I welcome ANY age kids to join – adult down to itty bitty newborn. I just adore being a witness to the roles that mothers play.

Ideas For Your Motherhood Session
These session are short and intended to be a snapshot of this time with your children. They can look a number of ways: fun, intimate, tender, sweet, energetic, quiet – whatever this time of like looks like for you. Here are a few ideas to how you can approach this session.
- If you child is in the princess/superhero/fancy dress-up phase – lean into it for this session. You’ll never regret having some images of your child in the outfit you likely see them all the time in.
- If your child loves matching with you, maybe you do it for this one. Think white shirt and jeans versus super patterned dress for both (that might be too much visually).
- Have your child bring their favorite stuffed animal or toy, and we can do some portraits with that well-loved lovey.
- Include grandma and let’s make this a 3 generations photo.
- Bring flower crowns, bubbles, a favorite book to incorporate into your session.
How Do You Sign Up
I only offer this Motherhood Event once a year, and spots are offered to clients from 2024 + 2025 first. Any remaining is opened up to my newsletter and then the public. Once spots are gone, you’ll have to wait until next year when you’re children are another year older.
This year, instead of a floral installation, I hand-painted a canvas backdrop to incorporate.
